Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Postbarrel ("we", "us"), the service at postbarrel.com. Our legal details are in the Contact section at the end. By creating an account or using Postbarrel you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What Postbarrel is

Postbarrel helps creators write scripts for short-form video. You pick a content profile, answer a short set of questions about your take on a subject, and Postbarrel uses AI to turn your answers into a script with delivery notes. Scripts are saved to your account, can be organised into series, and later scripts in a series can draw on what you said in earlier ones.

Postbarrel is a writing tool. You decide what to say, what to publish, and where. We do not publish anything on your behalf.

A built-in teleprompter can display your script and, if you allow camera access, record you reading it. Recordings are created and saved on your device only. They are never uploaded to Postbarrel.

2. Who can use it

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You can create your account with an email address and password, or by signing in with Google. Either way you must give a working email address and keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for everything done through your account. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication in your account settings. There are no backup codes, so if you lose your authenticator app, recovery is by a request to support after we confirm your identity.
• One person per account. Do not share or transfer an account.

3. Credits, plans and top-ups

Postbarrel runs on credits. Generating a script uses credits; the amount is shown before you confirm.

• Free scripts. New accounts get their first three single-item scripts free, on standard (non-business) profiles, valid for seven days from sign-up. Unused free scripts expire after that.
• Plans. A subscription gives you a monthly credit allowance (20 credits on the Small Pack, 44 on the Medium Pack, 100 on the Large Pack). The allowance resets to the plan amount at the start of each billing period; unused allowance does not carry over. Plans renew automatically until cancelled.
• Top-ups. Top-up credits are bought outright and are kept even if you cancel your plan. Each top-up is valid for 90 days from the date of purchase. Credits not used by then expire and are removed from your account. Credits closest to expiry are always used first, and top-up credits are used only after your monthly allowance is spent. Your account can hold at most 200 top-up credits at a time. A purchase that would take you over that limit is not offered at checkout. The days remaining on each top-up are shown on your Plans page.
• Cancelling a plan. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal, reached from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and you keep access until then. When the subscription ends, any remaining monthly allowance is removed. Top-up credits stay.
• Changing plan. You can move between plans from your account page. An upgrade starts a fresh month of the larger plan on the day you upgrade: you pay the larger plan's full price less the value of any unused credits on your current plan at that plan's per-credit price, your renewal date moves to that day, and your allowance resets to the larger plan's amount. A downgrade costs nothing and takes effect at your next renewal. The charge and the new renewal date are shown before you confirm.
• Promotions. We sometimes offer bonus credits (for example on a first purchase) or discount codes. Bonus credits are a gift, have no cash value, expire 90 days after they are granted (the same as top-ups), and may be withdrawn if the qualifying purchase is refunded or charged back.
• Referrals. Your account page has a personal invite link. When someone signs up through it and makes their first payment, you receive 3 bonus credits, valid for 90 days. The bonus is granted once per referred account, inviting yourself does not count, and the bonus is withdrawn if that first payment is refunded or charged back.
• Get ideas. The Get ideas feature, which suggests current topics to react to on some profiles, is part of paid accounts: an active plan or top-up credits. It includes 10 idea pulls a month, then 1 credit each. Free accounts do not have it.
• Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred between accounts, and cannot be exchanged for money except as described in our Refund Policy.

4. Payments and our merchant of record

Prices are shown in your local currency at checkout and include any applicable taxes, which Stripe calculates and collects. Your payment details are given to Stripe, not to us; we never see your card number. Stripe's own terms apply to the purchase itself: Stripe legal terms.

If a payment is refunded or charged back, the credits from that payment are removed from your account. See the Refund Policy.

5. Your content and acceptable use

• You own what you put in and what comes out. Your answers, topics, business details and the scripts Postbarrel generates for you are yours. We claim no ownership of them.
• You give us permission to store and process your content to run the service for you, which includes sending your answers to the AI provider that generates your script (see the Privacy Policy). We do not use your content to train AI models and do not sell it.
• Other people. Do not give us personal information about another person unless you have the right to. On the Storytime and Horror/True Crime profiles, which are often about other people, you are asked to confirm before you begin that you have the right to share the story and will not include private details that could identify someone without their agreement.
• Sensitive answers. The Fitness and Self-Improvement profiles ask about your own body or your own personal practice. Before you start one you are asked to confirm that you are choosing to share this yourself, and we record when you confirmed and the wording you agreed to, alongside your answers. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting the script, which also deletes the answers behind it. No other profile asks for sensitive information, so please do not add it there.
• You are responsible for your content and for anything you publish from it. Do not use Postbarrel to produce material that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights. Do not present knowingly false or misleading content as fact, and do not impersonate anyone.
• Never submit passwords, card numbers, API keys or other credentials, and do not add sensitive personal information to any profile that does not ask for it.
• True crime. The Horror/True Crime profile never names a living person in connection with a crime they were not convicted of, including people arrested, questioned, suspected, charged or acquitted, and it refuses cases with active proceedings, including ongoing investigations, current or upcoming trials, and pending sentencing or appeals. Do not ask it to.
• Do not use the service to attack, overload or reverse-engineer it, to scrape it, or to build a competing product from its outputs at scale. Do not try to get around credit limits, the free-script limit, the wallet ceiling, or the promotion and referral rules, including by creating extra accounts. Free scripts are capped per network address, referrals are credited only on a first visit, and inviting yourself pays nothing.
• We may remove content, pause generation or close an account where we reasonably believe the service is being misused.

6. How the AI works, and its limits

• What is sent. To write your script, your whole interview is sent to Anthropic's Claude API. For a script in a series, a brief paraphrase of your own earlier answers in that series goes with it. Never a quotation, and never another user's content. Nothing else from your account is sent.
• Fact checks. On most personal profiles, before writing, Postbarrel runs a few web searches through Tavily to check specific things you name, such as a film title, a restaurant, a match result or a place. Only the topic or subject text is sent, never your answers or account details, and each profile limits the search to a list of trusted sites. If that search service is down, the check runs through Anthropic's own web search instead, capped at three searches. Business profiles, Pets and Storytime do no research.
• Backup provider. If Anthropic's service fails repeatedly, the writing step falls back to an open-weight model hosted by Nebius in the EU, with its storage of prompts and outputs switched off. This happens only during such an outage.
• Descriptive detail, only if you say yes. On ten review and story style profiles, when your answers are shorter than the script length you chose, Postbarrel may ask whether it can add generic scene-setting or atmosphere. It never does this without asking, and even when you agree it may never add a new name, number, claim or event. Every fact in the script still comes from you. Scripts made this way are marked as such. You can choose a shorter script instead.
• No training, no human reading. We do not use your content to train AI models and do not let our providers do so. No person at Postbarrel reads your interviews as part of running the service. See the Privacy Policy for retention and logs.
• Read every script before you use it. AI can be wrong, can misstate facts, and can produce text that is not appropriate for your audience. Postbarrel does not guarantee the accuracy of generated scripts, and you are responsible for the accuracy and suitability of anything you publish. Where a script draws on an earlier script in the same series, check that it still reflects what you think now.

7. Keeping and deleting your data

• While your account exists, your answers, scripts, edits, series and saved ideas are kept so you can come back to them.
• Deleting a script also deletes the answers it was written from. Answers that never became a script are removed automatically after one day.
• Deleting your account is done from the account page. It locks the account immediately, cancels any active subscription straight away, removes your address from our email list, and permanently erases your data, including your login, after 30 days. Unused credits are lost on deletion and are not refunded.
• What remains afterwards: a minimal record that the account existed and was deleted, payment records held by Stripe for as long as tax law requires, the copies of sign-up, purchase and deletion notices in our own mailbox, and anything the law requires us to keep. Technical logs at our hosting provider expire on their own within 7 days.

8. Our commitments and their limits

• We work to keep Postbarrel available and secure, but we provide it "as is". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any script will perform well.
• To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost audience, or reputational harm arising from your use of the service or of any generated script. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
• Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
• If you are a consumer, you keep all rights you are entitled to under the law of the country you live in.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service, or is used for fraud, including payment fraud or chargeback abuse. Where reasonable we will tell you why. You may stop using Postbarrel at any time by deleting your account.

10. Changes

We may update the service and these terms. For material changes we will give notice by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Postbarrel after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and disputes will be handled by the Scottish courts, unless you are a consumer in another country whose law gives you the right to bring a claim locally.

12. Cookies and local storage

Postbarrel's own pages set no cookies. We use no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking of any kind. The only things kept in your browser are strictly necessary to run the service:

• Your session. Sign-in tokens are stored in your browser's local storage by our authentication provider and removed when you sign out.
• Where you came from. Local storage holds one small record: a random visit identifier, any referral, campaign or discount code from the link you arrived by, and the time you first arrived. It lets us credit the right partner for a sign-up and carry a discount code to checkout. It never leaves postbarrel.com.
• Bot protection. Cloudflare Turnstile guards sign-up and sign-in and may set a cookie for that purpose.
• Fonts. Typefaces load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font files load.

Checkout and the billing portal are pages on Stripe's site, reached by a redirect. Nothing from Stripe loads on postbarrel.com. If we ever add analytics or other non-essential technologies we will update these terms and the Privacy Policy first.
